Insomnia Strikes

By: Penny Butler, NaturalHealing.com.au

Insomnia leads to heart problems, strokes, diabetes, high-blood pressure and other physical ailments if it is not treated immediately.

Studies have shown recently that in England alone, more than "98%" of the patients suffering insomnia were admitted to the hospital. Thus, if you are suffering insomnia it is time to get help now, since delaying will only cost more when your health can no longer take the abuse.

While stress is part of the problem, insomnia has many components that make it difficult to decipher when physical or mental ailments are involved. At what time a person endures insomnia the psyche is off balance and medications may be needed to get the mind back on track. The body may be tormented with an infirmity condition, or the psyche may be suffering disorders, which promotes insomnia.

Insomnia is no one's best friend and at what time insomnia comes knocking, it is time to close the doors. During a study, one woman suffered ongoing chronic insomnia that gradually her nerves were torn down so badly she was unable to work. Once strategies were utilized to treat this woman insomnia existed but it came around on rare occasions until overwhelming stress knocked her down again. At this time, the woman was recommended to visit her general practitioner who prescribed her medications for the nervous conditions and once again, the woman was able to continue her purposes in life. Thus, if you notice, insomnia is ongoing. Once you seek medical, treatment and/or mental health treatment do not let up, since if you have chronic insomnia it will return.

Few cases of insomnia may be short lived, especially if the insomnia is temporarily caused by a death in the family, birth, and change of environment, new relationships and so forth. However, if the person suffers insomnia (after careful studies), I feel that some people should carefully watch their steps since they may be prone to insomnia later.

During another study, a gentleman took off one week for the holiday and complained that he had difficulty sleeping during the night. While off work his schedule changed, thus, his body clock was off balance and once he started, back to work his clock was on track again. As you can see changes can affect the body and mind, thus sometimes a person merely needs to readjust to get back on a sleeping schedule.

Few people suffer insomnia due to seasonal changes and/or allergies. Sleeping disorders such as Seasonal Affective Disorder otherwise known as SAD is a disorder that only appears between the seasons for the most part. The disorder is often treated with particular lighting tactics and sometimes medications are prescribed to help the person cope with the changes during the season. Therefore, you can see that in this particular case light may have something to do with sleep also. If you are having difficulty, sleeping you may want to check the lighting in your room and readjust to see if this helps you in your sleeping patterns.

Job switching can cause insomnia. If a person is elevated to a higher position in his career, it may cause insomnia due to the excitement, or else the fear that the person is not ready to take on greater responsibilities. Often this attack of the emotions prompts stress and causes insomnia.

Finally, insomnia again is no one's friend, thus getting help is necessary if you have ongoing attacks of insomnia. If you recently changed positions in a job, or experienced a stressful event then medical care may not be needed, unless insomnia continues to take control of your life. Everyone should be prepared when insomnia strikes.
